Deviance Community Standards Complaint System
At Deviance, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our community. To maintain a respectful and safe environment, we have implemented a structured complaint system for reporting community standards violations.
- Submitting a Complaint: Complaints must be made by the injured party or a representative of the injured party with the injured party’s consent. All complaints must begin by completing the online form.
This form is designed to gather essential information about the alleged incident, including:
- Date and time of the incident
- Individuals involved
- Detailed description of the incident
- Witnesses (if any)
- Whether the report is anonymous or identified
- Reports can be submitted via the form here.
- Confidentiality: We understand the sensitive nature of complaints and are committed to maintaining confidentiality. However, it is important to note that during the investigation process, certain information may need to be shared with relevant parties. While we strive to protect the identities of those involved, the act of investigating may unintentionally indicate information to others.
Key Points on Confidentiality:
- Only owners and managers will have access to the report.
- Information shared during the investigation will be handled with the utmost discretion.
- If anonymity is requested, we will respect that request to the best of our ability. However, anonymous reports are inherently more challenging to investigate and may limit our ability to ask, provide follow-up questions, or share investigation results.
- Investigation Process: Once a report is received, it will be reviewed by the owners and managers. If deemed applicable, an investigation will be initiated.
The investigation process includes:
- Review of the Report
- The owners and managers will review the complaint for clarity and completeness.
- If additional information is needed, follow-up questions will be directed to the complainant (if they are not anonymous).
- Interviews
- An attempt will be made to interview all willing parties involved, including:
- The complainant (if identified)
- The respondent (the person against whom the complaint was made)
- Any witnesses identified in the report
- Evaluation and Decision
- After gathering all available information, the owners and managers will evaluate the findings.
- The decision-making process will focus on fairness, impartiality, and community safety.
- It is important to note that the owners and managers are not attorneys or trained in the judicial process. However, they promise to do their best to be impartial and ensure a fair process.
- Possible Outcomes
- Based on the findings of the investigation, one of the following outcomes will be determined:
- Inconclusive:
- Not enough information could be obtained to make a clear determination.
- Dismissed:
- The complaint is dismissed due to insufficient evidence or a determination that no violation occurred.
- Temporary Ban Until Further Ruling:
- The individual may be temporarily banned from Deviance until a final ruling can be made.
- Temporary Ban Until Restorative Justice is Completed:
- The individual may be temporarily banned until they complete a restorative justice process.
- Temporary Ban for a Period of Time:
- The individual may be temporarily banned for a specific period of time.
- Temporary Ban Until Restorative Justice is Completed and a Minimum Time Frame Has Passed:
- The individual may be temporarily banned until they complete a restorative justice process, and a minimum time frame has passed.
- Permanent Ban:
- The individual may be permanently banned from Deviance.
- Inconclusive:
- Appeal Process
- If a party involved in the complaint wishes to appeal the decision, they may do so by submitting a written request to the owners within 30 days of the decision. The request must include:
- Reason for the appeal
- Any new evidence or information that was not previously considered
- The owners will review the appeal and determine whether a re-evaluation is warranted. The outcome of the appeal will be final.
- If a party involved in the complaint wishes to appeal the decision, they may do so by submitting a written request to the owners within 30 days of the decision. The request must include:
- Community Safety Commitment: Our primary goal is to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all members of the Deviance community. While we are not legal professionals, we are dedicated to addressing complaints seriously, fairly, and transparently. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming space for everyone.
